Product Description
1. Ti(C,N) - Titanium Carbonitride:
Ti(C,N) is a compound made from titanium (Ti) combined with both carbon (C) and nitrogen (N), forming a ceramic material. Titanium carbonitride is a hard, wear-resistant compound that exhibits excellent high-temperature stability, hardness, and corrosion resistance.
Titanium carbide (TiC) is already known for its hardness and high melting point.
Titanium nitride (TiN) is also used for its hardness, wear resistance, and corrosion resistance.
The combination of carbon and nitrogen into titanium carbonitride (Ti(C,N)) enhances the material properties, making it even more resistant to abrasion and wear, as well as improving its thermal stability.

2. Cermet:
Cermet refers to ceramic-metal composites where a ceramic phase (in this case, Ti(C,N)) is bonded with a metallic phase (typically cobalt, nickel, or iron). The ceramic phase provides properties like hardness, wear resistance, and high-temperature performance, while the metal phase contributes to toughness, ductility, and the ability to withstand mechanical stresses.
The combination of these materials makes Ti(C,N)-based cermets ideal for applications where both wear resistance and toughness are necessary, such as in cutting tools and wear-resistant parts.
3. Rod Form:
Cermet rods are simply the cylindrical forms of the Ti(C,N)-based cermet materials. These rods are commonly used in a variety of machining, cutting, and wear-resistant applications.
Rod shapes are particularly useful for tools or components that need to be strong, abrasion-resistant, and able to maintain sharp edges or precise geometries during high-stress operations.
Key Properties of Ti(C,N)-Based Cermet Rods:
High hardness: Due to the presence of titanium carbide and titanium nitride, these materials are very hard and resistant to wear.
Excellent wear resistance: Ti(C,N) provides significant protection against abrasive wear.
High-temperature resistance: These materials can withstand high temperatures without degrading, making them suitable for hot work environments.
Toughness: The metal binder provides toughness to the otherwise brittle ceramic phase, allowing the material to absorb shock and resist fracture.
Corrosion resistance: Ti(C,N)-based cermets also have good resistance to corrosion, especially in harsh or chemically aggressive environments.
