Product Description

Tungsten Carbide Rotary Burr from Jinxin Carbide

Tungsten carbide burr (also called a carbide rotary burr or rotary file) is a small, high‑performance rotary cutting tool made from tungsten carbide (WC) with cobalt as a binder. It is mounted in die grinders, pneumatic tools, or rotary tools for precision material removal.

Key Properties

  • Extreme hardness: Mohs ~9.5 (second only to diamond), far harder than steel.
  • Super wear resistance: Lasts 3–5× longer than high‑speed steel (HSS) burrs.
  • Heat resistance: Maintains cutting performance at high temperatures.

Structure

  • Head: The cutting part, precision‑ground with flutes (single‑cut or double‑cut).
  • Shank: A steel or carbide stem (typically 1/8" or 1/4" diameter) for clamping.
  • Connection: Usually silver‑brazed or welded for strength.
  • Two parts:The head is made of tungsten carbide and the handle is made of steel. The head and handle are welded together using sandwich welding plates through high-temperature melting.

Common Shapes

  • Ball/round: For contouring, blending, and hollowing.
  • Cylindrical: For flat surfaces, deburring, and slotting.
  • Tapered/pointed: For detail work, engraving, and reaching tight spaces.
  • Tree/ogive: For shaping and finishing curved surfaces.
  • Countersink: For chamfering holes.

Typical Uses

  • Deburring & edge breaking: Removes sharp edges from metal parts.
  • Weld preparation & cleanup: Shapes welds and removes excess material.
  • Shaping & contouring: Used in mold making, metal carving, and jewelry.
  • Grinding & milling: Works on steel, stainless steel, aluminum, titanium, cast iron, plastics, and wood.

Applications

  • Automotive, aerospace, mold & die, metal fabrication, dentistry, and hobby carving.
